Hermès Paris

What my client really wanted was a cake in the shape of a Hermes handbag. It was for his sister's birthday...."My sister gives to the family a lot and I wanted to give her something that would show my appreciation." Regretfully, I could not find a cake artist available for the order.

He ended up requesting just plain cupcakes instead. Feeling inspired by his deep feelings for his sister, I decided to put together a very last minute Hermes Paris theme. His sister was pleasantly surprised. AND she loved the cupcakes. =)

Bakugan Cupcakes

Okay, I received an order for Bakugan cupcakes. For those who don't know what Bakugan is...neither do I. What I ended up doing was going to Target to purchase a "Scorpion" character as a cupcake topper. I had to ask for guidance from a 7 year old boy who happened to be shopping for Bakugan at the same time. =)

A Classic Elegance

This design was also made for the 1920's themed birthday. For these cupcakes, my commissioner decided that roses are the best choice to reflect the elegance of the time. I think she is absolutely right! I decided to use pink royal icing roses because they tasted better than the gum paste roses. I added pearls to frame the palette and draw attention to the main decoration. The overall design is simple and effortlessly gorgeous.

Featured are White Chocolate cupcakes. ENJOY!

Hearts All Over The World...

This design was created for a 1920's theme Birthday party. Color of choice is pink and black. Some of you may not know, but the 1920's were known as the "Roaring Twenties." It was the emphasis in culture, art and social dynamics that made it one of the most glamorous and beautiful decades. It's primary reputation was in North America but it also touched Paris, London and Berlin. This is why I decided to call this one... "Hearts all over the world."

Featured are Grasshopper (mint chocolate w/Oreo Cool Mint) cupcakes with light whipped mint frosting. Heart quins and edible pearls were individual hand placed. No detail spared for these cupcakes! Enjoy!

A Touch of Pretty

I recently found these dainty little flowers at the local cake supplier! I loved them on site! They are completely edible, made with gum paste and colored delicately, adding the perfect simple beauty I needed for these cupcakes. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Charlene!

These were made especially for Charlene who celebrated her 22nd birthday recently. These perfectly poised edible flowers are a great reflection of Char's considerate personality. She's the kind of girl who thinks "teasing" is mean and laughs at everything, even if it's not funny. Thanks Char, for being you. Happy Birthday! Enjoy!

A touch of Disney Magic!

This cute little theme was thought up by Michelle for her 6 year old son. The choice flavor? Cookies 'N Cream. The ears were made with waffle cookie sandwiches with a dark chocolate filling. Buttons were made with Nilla wafers covered in whipped frosting. Michelle's son will be enjoying this year's birthday at the happiest place on Earth! Have fun at Disneyland!
The cake was made with Wilton's Giant Cupcake pan and I have to admit, it was quite a process. Here's why, the bottom portion of the pan uses 6 cups of batter and the top portion only uses about 3 & 1/2 cups of batter. So in order for this cupcake to work out, I baked the two portions separately. I'm really curious as to why Wilton didn't make the pieces separate. That would've been so much more easier and time efficient. =(
